The SJSO K-9 Unit presented me with the challenge of creating a logo for the team and trading cards for the deputies to pass out at various events and demonstrations. This project was a lot of fun. Not only did it allow me to jump in Illustrator and create a logo, but it also gave me a chance to stretch my photography skills with the challenge of photographing the handlers and the dogs. It required a lot of coordinating with the deputies to schedule photos, gather information, and the overall design.
The K-9 Unit first approached me about designing a logo for them. They wanted to be able to use this on trading cards, team shirts, a decal for their storage closet, and pretty much any of their other equipment. The logo utilizes the same star shape and the colors seen in the Sheriff's Office logo. By doing this, I ensured everything done for the K-9 team coincides with other Sheriff's Office marketing.
The K-9 trading cards were created for the deputies to hand out to citizens (primarily for the kids, but adults love them as well) in the community. It is a delightful way for the deputies to connect with citizens and make their interactions positive and memorable.
